My Story…
After becoming a widow, I felt a deep calling to serve Veterans and those experiencing homelessness. In January 2023, while pursuing my Social Work degree at Mars Hill University, I began an internship at Transformation Village—an experience that soon led me to a Case Manager role in March. Now, as I prepare to graduate with my MSW in the coming weeks, I can’t help but reflect on the journey that brought me here.
Hurricane Helene left me, like so many others, without a place to call home. That experience shaped me, and I have prayed for God to use it to make me a more compassionate and effective Case Manager.
Our team is running to raise funds for the new Safe Haven at Transformation Village—a refuge for those in need. This space holds even deeper meaning for me, as it will also be home to a memorial plaque honoring my husband, made possible by a generous gift from his close family and friends.
I am running to honor the path that led me here, to support the incredible community I am privileged to be a part of at Transformation Village, and to cherish the memories that continue to guide me forward.
