My Story…

What the Bayfield Rec Center means to me:

- When I moved to Bayfield and knew nobody, I made my first friend at the Rec Center.

- It’s the best place to go in the shoulder season: freezing rain is the only thing that drives me inside and I love having a pool and a gym for mud season.

- It’s a place for people of all ages to learn and practice swimming and therefore be safer on the big lake. It’s also is one of the few pools left in the South Shore.

- There’s a SAILING SCHOOL. And they are rad.

- It’s a place of community, especially in winter when all the locals get to hang. It also is a huge resource for the local schools: movement is medicine.

- My first time in a sea kayak was at the Rec center pool and I went on to guide for 4 seasons with Trek & Trail.

- Saunas make you live longer. Just look at the Finns 😉 so does a good cold plunge! https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/sauna-use-linked-longer-life-fewer-fatal-heart-problems-201502257755

- The Rec center is open to locals and visitors. Please visit whenever you are in Bayfield! 💙
