My Story…
After bariatric surgery, so much in my life has changed—my eating habits, my health awareness, my confidence—all for the better. But I’ll be honest: how I see myself is still something I sometimes struggle with. I thought I’d wake up one day and instantly be a size 6… that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
What is true is that I shed over 100 pounds and have kept it off. I’ve gained so much more than I ever expected—I hike, I swim (in a 2-piece, might I add!), I paddle board, I coach my daughter’s baseball team, and this year I even played on a women’s baseball team and was nominated for a 2025 Baseball Nova Scotia award.
I went to a festival and dressed way too cute the entire time, and the best part? I didn’t get tired. I wasn’t in pain. I was fully present and able to really live—or as my fellow middle-age mom friends call it, sliving.
Today, my team and I are in this race to say: we are here, and we’re celebrating bodies that can—when once, we thought they never could.
