My Story…
Why I’m Running My First Marathon—For Our Kids, Our Community, and a Greater Good
As the principal of Spirit Lake Elementary, I’ve had the honor of watching our students grow, overcome challenges, and surprise themselves with what they’re capable of every day. This year, I’ve decided it’s my turn to follow their lead—to challenge myself in a big way and do it for something bigger than just crossing a finish line.
That’s why I’m training for my first marathon.
Running 26.2 miles is no small feat—especially for someone who’s used to running around the school building, not the streets of a city for hours at a time! But every mile I log is motivated by something deeply personal: the belief that every child deserves access to opportunity, encouragement, and a strong start in life.
I’m dedicating this marathon to our students and to a cause close to my heart: Special Olympics. Every step I take is a pledge to stand up for their future.
I hope to inspire our students to dream big, work hard, and never give up—no matter how long or difficult the journey may seem. Because if their principal can run a marathon, just imagine what they can do.
I’ll be sharing my training journey, the highs and lows, and the lessons I learn along the way. I invite you to follow along, cheer me on, or even join in—whether that’s by donating to the cause, running a few miles with me, or simply encouraging someone in your life to go after a bold goal.
Together, we can go the distance.
Let’s run for something greater.
