Hi there! I’m Katie Huynh - a QUEERSPACE collective staff member, avid runner and gym rat, and lifelong advocate for social justice. At the intersection of all these things that are near and dear to my heart, I’ve set myself a new challenge: the Twin Cities In Motion 10-miler (my longest distance yet!), to support safety and belonging for Queer youth.

As part of the QUEERSPACE team, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of this work. Founded in 2021 on the radical belief that everyone deserves to show up as their authentic self, QUEERSPACE has grown in just four years from a one-to-one mentorship program into a holistic organization offering intergenerational mentorship, inclusivity training, group programming, and now, a dedicated 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Center in Minneapolis. We’re not just creating safe spaces, we’re transforming the interpersonal, community, and systemic structures that shape Queer lives. 

True to our name, it really does take a collective to raise a generation of thriving 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. I hope you’ll join me in this journey by making a gift and/or cheering me on at the race on Sunday, October 5th!

As a bisexual, Asian American woman who has struggled (and still struggles) with her intersecting identities, I know how powerful it is to have a community like QUEERSPACE. Every young person deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Yet today, Queer and Trans youth are facing increasing attacks on their rights and dignity, which makes this work more urgent than ever.

This is my very first fundraiser, and here’s my big ask: help me raise $500 for QUEERSPACE collective.
