My Story…
This Sunday, I will be walking 5K in my FIRST road race.
If you’d like to support me, consider donating. Times aren’t easy, so it’s your participation that matters most. If you “like” this post and are able to donate $5.00 Canadian, thank you! And if 100 people like it… robotic surgery at St. Joe’s wins. Robotic surgery is helping patients heal faster and go home sooner. Read on?
My three goals 1) to raise at least $555 to support robotic surgery innovation at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, 2) to participate in the Historic Around the Bay Road Race that passes along my home street, and 3) to complete the 5K course.
Hamilton’s Around the Bay Road Race was recently awarded World Athletics Heritage Award recognizing it as oldest long-distance race in North America.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation has been a charity partner since 2005.
Description
Welcome to my fundraising page!
This year, I’m taking on the Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) and raising funds to support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide.
Your donation to my run will support the robotic surgery revolution underway at St. Joe’s. Over the past 12 years, more than 4,500 people have received robotic surgery and dozens of research studies have shown they’re experiencing smaller incisions that heal faster, with less scarring, and reduce the chance of infection, too. But what’s more, is that robotic surgery patients are going home sooner, with fewer post-operative complications and a quicker return to their lives and families.
Here’s the challenge: Robotic surgery is so new that only 3 of the 10 types of robotic surgery performed at St. Joe’s are funded by the province. For surgeries to help those needing a hip or knee replacement, and to treat those living with oral, esophageal, lung and bladder cancers, the Hospital relies on donations to events like the Bay Race. Let’s bring the power of robotic surgery to every patient who would benefit from it.
Thank you for donating to my run and for fueling the future of care at St. Joe’s.
