My Story…
I am running for a cause that’s deeply personal to me.
Ten years ago, my daughter and I moved from Calgary to Vancouver and quickly developed a deep bond with the ocean. Together, we began volunteering — spending countless hours educating the public and advocating for environmental awareness.
Thanks to these experiences, and the opportunities she found through youth education and volunteering, my daughter is now studying at UVic to continue this journey on a broader scale.
Recently, I discovered The Starfish Canada, and its mission resonated deeply with me. Their commitment to empowering youth to become environmental leaders aligns perfectly with the path my daughter and I have walked together. I’m proud to support this organization and help create more opportunities for young people to make a meaningful impact.
Description
Running and the environment are deeply interconnected. Our natural spaces provide us with fresh air and the desire to adventure in the great outdoors. Co-founder of The Starfish Canada, Kyle Empringham, explained it well: "Environmental matters aren’t just about ethics — it’s about our health, too. They provide spaces for people to breathe deeply, to enjoy the trails with friends and family, and to soak in the benefits that nature can provide us."
Our team is excited to support The Starfish Canada. This charity actively supports youth voices in climate action and environmentalism for decades, and their success in amplifying young people as leaders in this space are profound. Since 2010, they've recognized and supported thousands of young people in seeing the world through an environmental lens, with those young folks taking those ideas and insights wherever their careers and life journies take them.
We appreciate any support you can provide. You will be provided with a tax receipt for your contribution.
