My Story…
By running this half marathon, I’m raising money for the BC Cancer Foundation in honour of my mum, who I lost to cancer in 2006 when I was just 10 years old.
My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was a baby. She fought bravely for several years and went into remission, but the cancer eventually returned. It spread to her hip, brain, and lungs. After a nine-year battle, cancer took her life.
My mother was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with, and is deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She continuously outlived her medical odds, extending her life expectancy to stay alive for my dad, brother and me. She was an incredible mother and family member, a loyal friend, and a beloved teacher to her students. Through her, I learned the true meaning of resilience, courage, and love.
I will always wish for more time with her. She was taken far too soon. While I can’t get that time back, I hope to give others more time with their loved ones by raising funds for cancer research and support.
Thank you so much for reading. If you’re able, please consider donating. Every bit truly makes a difference. :')
