Those communities are often underrepresented in the medical field and are reflected in the diversity of our student body. Founded in 2004, AUA has accomplished more than some schools have in decades. AUA leads the way in addressing the projected physician shortage, especially in the areas of primary care, family medicine, and internal medicine. Our world-class faculty places a premium on making themselves accessible to students and creating a learning environment in which hands-on training is the norm.

Rules
Rohrman Trail Race Rules
1. Distance Estimates
- All distances are estimates. Due to variations in GPS tracking, different devices may record slightly different distances. The provided distances are the best estimates, but participants should be aware that actual distances may vary.
2. Water Requirements
- 7k participants must carry a minimum of 1 liter of water.
- 15k participants must carry a minimum of 1.5 liters of water.
- 25k participants must carry a minimum of 2 liters of water.
- Do not underestimate your water needs. Antigua is a hot country, and dehydration is a serious risk during the hike.
3. Required Gear
- Whistle: All participants are required to carry the provided whistle during the hike. The whistle should only be used in an emergency, and the international signal for distress is three blasts.
- Bib Number: All participants must wear the provided bib number visibly on the front of their clothing.
- Phone: Carry a fully charged cell phone in case of emergencies. Be aware that some sections of the trail may have limited cell signal.
4. Food and Energy
- Participants are strongly encouraged to bring high-energy snacks such as energy bars, nuts, dried fruits, and electrolyte-rich foods or drinks to maintain energy levels and replace salts lost through sweating.
5. Aid Stations
Aid stations will be available at the following locations:
- Fisher Hill: Available for all hikers.
- Wallings: Available for 15k and 25k hikers only.
- Rendezvous Bay: Available for 25k hikers only.
- Entrance to Carlisle Bay: Available for all hikers and road walkers/runners.
Participants should bring sufficient water and nutrition in case additional support is needed or in the event that aid stations become temporarily unavailable.
6. Emergency Protocol
- Safety personnel, including hikers, medics, and defense force members, will be stationed along the route to assist in the event of an emergency. Participants are encouraged to be patient and wait for help if needed.
7. Trail Safety
- Watch for hazards: Trails are inherently dangerous, with potential risks such as steep cliffs, slippery rocks, thorny plants, stinging nettles, and the possibility of insect stings. Exercise caution throughout the route.
- Do not speed through dangerous sections. The trail may have narrow ridges with steep drops. Be especially careful on mossy and wet rocks, which can be very slippery.
- If you feel unable to continue, you may exit the route at one of the aid stations. You are responsible for getting to the aid station safely.
8. Environmental Responsibility
- No littering: Participants must carry all trash, including water bottles and food wrappers, until they can dispose of them properly at designated aid stations. Help us keep Antigua clean.
9. Nutrition and Hydration Preparation
- Pre-event meal: It is strongly advised that participants eat a large meal the night before and a healthy breakfast on the morning of the event to ensure proper energy and hydration levels.
10. Recommended Clothing
- While significant clearing has been done, participants may still encounter bushy sections of the trail. It is recommended to wear long sleeves, long pants, and a hat to protect against scratches and other environmental elements.
11. Participant Conduct
- Passing: If another participant wishes to pass, move aside and let them pass safely. Do not block the trail, especially on narrow sections.
- Pacing: Do not rush over narrow ridges, slippery rocks, or steep declines. The trail can be narrow and dangerous at parts, so proceed with caution.
12. Race Completion and Sweepers
- A team will walk the course behind the last participant to ensure everyone completes the course safely. If you run into difficulties, be patient and wait for assistance.
13. Enjoyment
- While the Rohrman Trail Race is a challenging event, it’s also an opportunity to enjoy some of Antigua’s most scenic views. Prepare for a fun and memorable day!
