My Story…
Over the past three years, I’ve reignited my passion for running, completing multiple half marathons and 10K races. This year I am running my first full marathon and I’m dedicating it to raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC).
Ovarian cancer is notoriously difficult to detect. There is no effective screening test for this disease and symptoms are vague, mimicking other common and benign conditions. The most common type of ovarian cancer can begin spreading while the cancer cells are still very small — often before any symptoms appear. As a result, 75% of ovarian cancer cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage (Stage 3 or 4), which drastically impacts survival rates. OCC is working to change that.
Research is key to have a better understanding of the disease, improve early detection methods, and to develop more effective treatments. OCC is leading the charge in Canada, advancing technology and driving critical research forward.
Too many strong women have faced this illness — some are still fighting, and others were taken far too soon. Earlier detection and better treatment options could have changed their journey entirely.
If you’re able, please consider donating. No contribution is too small, and every bit of support helps move this mission forward. Even reading and sharing this message helps spread awareness — and that’s powerful, too.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
