My Story…

On October 18, I will once again be dragging my butt to Downtown Toronto and forcing this aging carcass to  run 5K - not because I enjoy ruining a perfectly good Saturday morning sleep-in but, to raise funds for Fanconi Canada, a grassroots charity supporting medical research into understanding and treating Fanconi anemia, its related cancers and complications. FA is an inherited disease that can affect all systems of the body and causes bone marrow failure, leukemia and solid tumor cancers.

I am participating in memory of the too many Canadian children and young adults, including my son Aaron, whose life, like too many others was cut short by FA. There is no cure for FA and no effective treatment for its associated cancers.

Fanconi Canada has committed over $400,000 to support the work of the BC Cancer Agency as part of the Fanconi Anemia Cancer Consortium (FACC), an international collaborative partnership between the FA community and a network of clinicians and physician scientists who have expertise in the diagnosis and management of FA cancers and FA cancer research.

We are asking for your help to continue Fanconi Canada's important work. Your tax-deductible donation will help advance the search for better treatments for FA. Please give generously -  every dollar counts.

Thank you for your support,

Lorne
