Help Charleigh raise money

This fall will mark 6 years since my family & I left an abusive household.

I’ve always been cautious when people would tell me that they “love how close my family is”. While I’m not one to turn away a compliment, when I hear those words I think if only they knew how much strength, love & forgiveness - in each other, in ourselves - it took to get to where we are now. It was a choice to not let what we went through break us & it’s one we continue to make daily.

It also took a village. I’ll always acknowledge that I couldn’t have gotten here alone. To those that helped my family during that time - whether it be through believing us, lending a shoulder to cry on or even as far as opening up your home to us when we didn’t have one - thank you. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you as well & you’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

As survivors of domestic abuse, my family was fortunate enough to have the support systems we did that we didn’t have to turn to organizations like the Red Door Family Shelter. However, I know that other individuals/families may not have that luxury, which is why I’d like to commemorate my first half marathon by fundraising for this cause. To give others what my family had when we needed it the most - a village.

But most importantly, to my beautiful family & biggest supporters - mama, Kuya & Charmagne.. I love you & this one’s for you.
