This fundraiser is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jane Goodall — a woman whose vision, courage, and compassion continue to inspire generations.

When Jane was only 10 years old, she dreamed of going to Africa. Many around her laughed at the impossibility of it, but her mother told her: “Take every opportunity, never give up.” She followed that advice. She became a gentle yet determined scientist, whose bright eyes reflected a deep love for life and truth. Even until her last moments, she never stopped pursuing knowledge and spreading hope.

Jane showed us that strength and tenderness are not opposites. From a postmodern feminist perspective, she reminded us that we do not have to be defined by gender — we can redefine it by how we choose to live, reclaiming the right to tell our own story.

In her words: “I have to run, I have to run, I have to run. When I am gone, there are hundreds and hundreds of young people; they are already there for taking over.”

I believe this torch of responsibility and love now rests in our hands. That’s why I am raising funds for SickKids, a place where children and families face some of life’s greatest challenges. Just as Jane lived by example, I hope to inspire my community — friends, colleagues, neighbors — to join me in making a difference.

This is not about arguing; it is about reaching the heart. Every contribution, big or small, becomes part of Jane’s legacy — proving that compassion can move the world forward.
