At 91, having fully recovered from Covid and pneumonia, I'm ready to hit the sidewalk again for the eighth time for the annual 5k Charity Challenge of the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Once again I'm walking as part of the Church of the Holy Trinity Refugee Committee, raising funds for our work welcoming and supporting newcomers as they get settled in Canada.
I will do the walk "virtually", which means in my own time at my own pace, close to home with occasional rest stops along the way.
Over the last 35 years Holy Trinity has brought nearly 160 refugees fleeing persecution and danger to find a new life in Canada.
My personal fundraising goal is $5,000 as part of the $30,000 team goal.
