My Story…
I lost my number one fan far too early. My dad died in 2018 of early onset Alzheimer's. When I was in high school my dad never missed a track or cross country meet. He was so supportive of my running. The last race he saw me run was the Boston marathon in 2015 when I also fundraised for the Alzheimer's society. It was an awful slow decline that my dad faced without many answers as to what was happening. I hope the fundraising money can go toward further research so we can gain a better understanding of this disease so not as many people have to lose their life too early. While training for and taking part in the TCS Toronto Waterfront marathon I will be thinking of my dad and how he never got to meet his grandson. He would have been such an amazing grandfather and it breaks my heart that my son will never meet him.
This year the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon is extra special to me, not just because I am fundraising but also because it will be my first marathon postpartum (hopefully)! My son is now 18 months and I am excited to see what I can do. I am so excited to run my first postpartum marathon in the city that has been so supportive of me and my running!!
