My Story…
Annex Cat Rescue (ACR) has been dedicated to helping Toronto’s most vulnerable street cats for 28 years. In addition to the colonies that ACR manages across Toronto, ACR volunteers work with community members to Trap-Neuter-Return cats, provide education, socialize kittens, and try to make the lives of homeless cats a little better and a little easier.
Not all cats can be returned their colonies, sometimes the cats need a bit more help. Kalypso was one of those cats.
This beautiful and sassy tortie was trapped in her colony with a significant limp. There was hope that it was a simple soft tissue injury and some time and rest would help her but it became apparent that Kalypso needed something more. Her trapper, Lori, asked the ACR board for help and Kalypso was approved for vetting.
Kalypso was eventually diagnosed with a luxating patella - a kneecap that kept dislocating. Surgery was performed and Kalypso is recovering well in a foster home. She still doesn’t love people but she’s doing well inside and choosing to spend time in the open with her foster family.
Without ACR Kalypso would have a lived a life of constant pain. Kalypso is one of many ferals cats I have had the pleasure of helping during my time with ACR. This work can’t be done without your help.
