My Story…
Eli's Place
Canada’s first therapeutic farm
Based on an effective and proven model, Eli’s Place will offer young adults with serious mental illness a farm-based, long-term residential treatment and recovery program. Community living, meaningful work and individualized therapeutic care will nurture a growth mindset in our clients. Transitional care as clients move back into the community will be available as individual needs evolve.
Recently I was welcomed on to the Board at Eli's Place, a foundation committed to realizing the creation of a farm based residential home for youths with mental health challenges. With my experience in fundraising along with my life experience dealing with family members who lost their battle with mental illness, I feel very connected to this organization, underscoring the importance of a facility that would provide much needed care.
Please consider a donation in support of the efforts of many, to help realize the dream of Eli's Place. Thank you
Maureen
Description
For the 160,000 young adults in Ontario grappling with serious mental illness, access to effective treatment is grossly inadequate. The cost in lives lived with debilitating challenges or lost to early death is far too great. The vision of Eli’s Place aims to bring hope. A first-of-its-kind in Canada, Eli’s Place is modelled after a leading rural, residential long-term treatment centre with proven success. Programs that incorporate therapeutic work, specialized care and skills training will offer a path to recovery for people in this underserved age group, giving them the tools to heal and move from simply surviving to living.
