Help me help Lifeline save lives
This is my second Go For Broke event! About me: I am a total self confessed crazy cat lady with an interest in cycling (evidently), bellydancing and rock climbing. I am yet to try doing all three at the same time, but anything is possible. I have two spoilt moggies at home who mean the world to me. And now for the heartfelt stuff. Suicide prevention and depression are causes very, very close to my heart. I took up cycling after a severe mental health crisis in 2022 in which (at the time) I never expected myself to recover from. Mental illness has affected not only myself but touched a lot of my family. I have also lost a friend to suicide and firmly believe suicide prevention and preventative mental health to be one of the most important issues facing Australia today. I am extremely lucky to have rebuilt my life and have such a strong and supportive family and friends. Go For Broke is now in its 10th year and I am so excited!
Description
Every day, nine Australians lose their battle with mental health — help us help Lifeline.
In recent years, challenges like COVID, natural disasters, and financial pressures have deeply affected our communities. As a result, more people than ever are turning to Lifeline for support—through both their frontline mental health services and the national 13 11 14 crisis line.
This year, I’m taking part in the 10th Go4Broke – GFB25, a gruelling 183km cycling event with over 2,000 metres of vertical climbing, from Berowra to Broke in the Hunter Valley.
As a proud participant in GFB25, I’ll be raising funds for Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney. Your support will not only help staff the 24/7 13 11 14 crisis line, but also fund critical, on-the-ground mental health services in our local community. The Lifeline centre in Gordon is one of the few in Australia that answers calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—especially during the late-night and early morning hours, when people experiencing depression and anxiety are often most vulnerable.
At Go4Broke, every dollar we raise goes directly towards funding these essential services. Over the past nine years, we’ve raised more than $500,000—and we’re just getting started. Please consider supporting me as I train for this incredibly tough but deeply meaningful ride.
Every dollar makes a difference. Every dollar could save a life.
Thank you for helping me support Lifeline.
