Join me in 60 Years of bringing Healing through Happiness… yes, that’s right…. This is my 35th YEAR OF VOLUNTEERING at Campfire Circle and the 25th Anniversary of the Sporting Life 10K!!
Please help me celebrate this incredible milestone and let’s bring more camp to kids with cancer and other life threating illnesses!
This past year has been one for the books!
I’ve seen many times over the power that Camp has to heal not only campers, but their entire families. I started my summer with a week of traditional camp magic, supporting kids with cancer. From there, I learned what an incredible impact camp can have on kids with special hearts, as well as kids with sickle cell disease. It was truly a life-changing experience to see the happiness, growth, socialization and healing that a week at camp provided kids with heart disease as well as kids with rare blood disorders. Transporting them away from the hardships they face every day to a place where they felt seen, supported and programmed for is an experience I still carry with me.
Over the fall and winter, I’ve been doing Weekends at Camp supporting patients, siblings and families. Whether it’s watching the sunrise up at our Muskoka site or gathering around the campfire at Rainbow Lake, it’s amazing to see the impact that camp has on entire families. Kids with cancer making new friendships after being isolated in-hospital for ages, their siblings experiencing the fun of camp for themselves, or watching parents share moments with each other or connecting with other parents… the magic that is camp just never gets old.
An event that had a profound impact on my life was the Weekend at Camp we created for campers with complex care and their families. Words can’t describe what a groundbreaking and inspiring weekend that was. To be able to support these delicate campers and their families as they navigate their unique circumstances is an experience I will always be grateful for, and one I look forward to supporting again this year.
This summer I’m looking forward to being back in Muskoka to support not only kids with cancer, but a very exceptional group of kids… campers who have lost a sibling to cancer. This will be my first time spending a week at camp supporting our Bereaved Sibling campers. I know it’s going to be a very special summer.

For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
