My Story
Greer was diagnosed with high risk ALL type b leukemia on October 4th, 2023. The same day as mine and Michael's 15th wedding anniversary. It's been a hell of a year and having to watch your child suffer medical procedures and treatment is a special type of torture as a parent. Thankfully due to the amazing staff of SickKids, Greer is in remission and underwent a bone marrow transplant in April 2024 with her brother, Knox, as her donor to hopefully ensure that the cancer never returns. She returned to school in November and over the last months we have watched her slowly come back to life. One of the few benefits of having a child with cancer is to have access to Campfire Circle. They provide moments of happiness in hospital and amazing camps and activities not only for Greer but her brothers, Nash and Knox, and even our whole family. The level of care at campfire camps in unparalleled and it is a space so special that people take vacation from their jobs to volunteer. For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
