My Story
On May 11th, I will be participating in the Sporting Life 10K, in support of Campfire Circle, and as a proud member of the Benjamin the Brave team.
My grandnephew, Benjamin, was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) in 2021, and underwent tests, procedures, and chemo at Sick Kids. During this time, Ben and his family, were supported by the wonderful in-hospital programming offered by Campfire Circle.
Last fall, Ben, his sister Ella, and parents' Kaitlin and Dave, spent a weekend at Campfire Circle's Family Camp in Muskoka. They were "completely blown away" by the the experience which was "pure magic". The days were filled with laughter, trying new things together, and meeting new friends. Kaitlin and Dave met the only other family they know who has a child with LCH. In Kaitlin's words, they found "Joy. Relief. Connection. Normalcy. Things we didn't know how badly we'd been missing until we found them at camp."
I am walking the 10K to help kids with cancer, and their families, find some joy and normalcy during their oncology journey.
Please consider supporting me and donating to this great cause.
Thank you,
Gail
