My Story
I'm lacing up my running shoes for the Sporting 10k to support the incredible work of Campfire Circle, an organization that brings joy and hope to children and families impacted by childhood cancer. While I haven't personally navigated the challenges of cancer, I've been deeply touched by the stories of resilience and strength that emerge from their community.
One story that particularly resonated with me is that of Liam, shared on the Campfire Circle blog. Liam was diagnosed with leukemia at a young age, and his journey through treatment was filled with uncertainty and difficulty. However, Campfire Circle became a beacon of light for him and his family.
As his mother, Sarah, shared, 'Campfire Circle wasn't just a camp; it was a lifeline. It was a place where Liam could forget about appointments and treatments for a while and just be a kid again. He made friends who understood what he was going through, and our whole family felt supported in ways we couldn't have imagined.'
Liam's story, and countless others like his, highlight the vital role Campfire Circle plays in providing magical moments and a supportive community for these brave children and their families. Every kilometre I run and every dollar raised will help Campfire Circle continue to create these invaluable experiences – from joyful summer camps to empowering in-hospital programs.

For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
