Our Story

In 1926, the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók published the first two volumes of his series of progressive piano pieces, which he dedicated to his son & student, Péter. He named the series Mikrokosmos (Greek for "little world"). Our team's captain is no composer, but he does hack his way through piano, and was teaching his 6-year-old son a few songs from the first volume of Mikrokosmos when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The neurosurgeries and radiation therapy that followed did their job, and they took their toll. But nothing stopped him from continuing to learn piano, or from admiring the shimmering brilliance of Bartók's little world, which he had now made his own.

Campfire Circle was part of his recovery - there's always been a piano there, and our son played it faithfully. We invite you to join Campfire Circle's Little World! Your donation will help empower the next generation of kids with cancer, brain tumours, or rare diseases to follow their passions - wherever they may lead!
