Our Story
We are running the Sporting Life 10K this year in honour of beloved friend, brother and son, Eric. Eric was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at 8 years old and was 10 when he passed away. During his time at SickKids Hospital, Campfire Circle provided him with in-hospital programs when he was too sick to attend overnight camp. These programs, along with weekends at Camp helped raise Eric's spirits and we are thankful that Campfire Circle provided him with a place where he was able to meet other children like him, a place where he could just have fun and feel like a kid again.
Our goal is to raise $2500 for a week of camp at Campfire Circle as they are the only camp in Canada that can provide on-site IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions, allowing sick children to receive the treatment that they need during camp. His sister, Ivy, was provided with an amazing support system as she also attended camp with other children who had lost siblings to cancer.

For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
