Three years ago, I received my second life-saving kidney transplant, and every day since has been a gift. I'm incredibly privileged to live a full and vibrant life, something that wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of my donor Ramona, who will be joining me on this run again this year, and the tireless work of organizations like the Centre for Living Organ Donation.

I'm participating in this year's fundraising run to express my gratitude and help ensure others get the same second chance I did. The Centre for Living Organ Donation is a beacon of hope for thousands of people waiting for a kidney or liver transplant. They raise awareness, provide crucial support, promote vital research, and ultimately help reduce waiting lists and improve transplant outcomes.

The importance of this work has been highlighted by the experiences of three dear friends. My friend Rick, who has been a friend for a very long time, received his kidney transplant earlier this year. He's doing so well and has already committed to joining me on the run next year.

Sadly, not everyone gets that opportunity. My childhood friend Frank passed away while still waiting for his transplant, leaving his wife and young son. His memory motivates me to do everything I can to help others avoid a similar fate.

I also remember my transplant friend Ariel, who enjoyed several years of wonderful health with his kidney transplant before succumbing to an unexpected illness late last year. His time post-transplant was a testament to the power of living organ donation and the Centre's mission.
