My Story…
Rolling forward for inclusion, equity, access, and diversity.
Hi, I’m Yağız — an international student, wheelchair marathoner, and advocate for inclusion. I’ve completed six full marathons and several shorter races, but over time I’ve realized that I’m not racing others — I’m racing myself. Every finish, whether first or last, holds the same meaning. Many race courses aren’t fully accessible, and each marathon brings its own physical challenges. But your support, and the smiles and hope I see while racing, give me strength and make these challenges somehow easier to face. This September 7, I’m joining the Yorkville Run to represent YWCA Toronto and support their work empowering women, girls, and gender-diverse people. With the spirit of togetherness, I want to do my part — and with your help, we can make every kilometer count.
Description
I am proud to participate in 2025 Constantine Yorkville Run in support of YWCA Toronto — and I hope you will join me!
You can help by participating or making a donation. Your will help YWCA Toronto support nearly 13,000 women, gender diverse people, and families each year to:
- Find safety and stability in our emergency shelters and affordable, permanent housing;
- Heal from trauma and grow through a holistic array of supportive services and programs;
- Build critical job-readiness skills through employment and training programs;
- Grow their leadership and confidence through our girls’ and youth initiatives — and so much more!
💜 Every step counts —you are helping build a safer, more equitable community for all.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
