My Story…
My brother Derek would have turned 53 this year. It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since we lost him to an accidental overdose—a heartbreaking reminder of how addiction impacts not just individuals, but entire families and communities. Yet, his spirit and influence continue to have a lasting impact in our lives. This year brought meaningful milestones:
• His amazing daughter Madisen graduated from Monty Tech and is now a Health Sciences major at Assumption University, focusing on communication sciences and disorders.
• His niece Estelle is graduating summa cum laude from Merrimack College with a degree in Biology. Next stop: dental school!
We carry Derek’s memory into everything we do—especially this race. As Derek would say, “That’s what heroes do.”
