Help Gregory raise money

For participating in Navy Bike Ride 2025 / Défi‑vélo de la Marine 2025

My Story…

So here it is, after a long awaited decision making process between me, and myself (I argue and talk with myself too) - I have finally chosen this year's charity!

The last five years were a very fulfilling endeavour as I and others, supported the Hamilton Gault Memorial Fund through five bicycle rides of 106, 107, 108, 109 and 110 km each, representing the regimental birthdays of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Although it did not pick up the traction as I thought it might, we still raised over $41K.

This year, I have registered in the virtual 80 km Navy Bike Ride.

This year's 80 km event is the Battle of the Atlantic 80 km Ride, on this, the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII, and the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, the world's longest continuous battle.

Those who know me, know why I have chosen this fundraiser. For those who don't, my late father served on three HMC Ships during WWII, his last ship seeing action in the North Atlantic aboard HMCS ATHOLL (K15). I ride, and raise funds in honour of my dad, Sig. Robert S. Bell.

My brother also served in the RCN as well as many friends and colleagues. Salt water runs through my veins… lots of reasons to donate!

I ask for your support once more and kindly donate to this worthwhile cause. My preferred donation destination (as you will have choices), is the NAVALIS FOUNDATION.

Description

MAKE WAVES WITH US IN 2025

Welcome to the ninth iteration of the Navy Bike Ride! We are thrilled that Canadians will be joining us this June to walk, run, and cycle in support of the members of our Royal Canadian Navy and their families.

The aviators, sailors, and soldiers of our Canadian Armed Forces wear the maple leaf as a symbol of pride and patriotism on their uniforms. Each day they wear the maple leaf as they represent and protect our nation both at home and abroad, and their families. Military families are directly affected by aspects of the military lifestyle of continuous relocations, absences, and transitions.

Canadian Armed Forces members and their families are championed through Support Our TroopsSoldier On, and the Navalis Foundation (formerly the RCNBF). You will assist:

  • empower youth to pursue their academic dreams
  • maintain the dignity, independence, and well-being of families during financial hardship
  • send children of military families to camp bringing them a renewed energy and a support network
  • support ill and/or injured members in their rehabilitation and recovery through the transformative power of sport, recreation, and creative pursuits

The funds you raise will ensure that the members of the Canadian Armed Forces have access to the financial resources they need, when they need them the most. On behalf of our members in uniform – who do so much to keep us safe at home and abroad – Thank you for riding with us.

  • habiliter les jeunes à concrétiser leur rêve de poursuivre des études;
  • maintenir la dignité, l’autonomie et le mieux-être des familles lors de difficultés financières;
  • appuyer la réadaptation et le rétablissement des membres des FAC ayant une maladie et/ou une blessure grâce au pouvoir transformateur du sport, des loisirs et des activités créatives;
