My Story…
Gun violence is a public health crisis in the US. On average, 120 people are killed by guns every single day. Guns are now the leading cause of death for kids and teens. Access to a gun triples the risk of death by suicide. If you do not know someone who has been impacted by gun violence, you are one of the lucky ones. My son's soccer teammate was murdered with a gun in San Francisco. My close friend's parents were shot in a robbery in New York. I have known several people who have died by suicide with a gun.
I've been volunteering with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America since 2018 and believe it or not, we have made progress, especially in California. Gun safety laws save lives. Education about Safe Storage of guns saves lives. Gun violence intervention programs in our communities save lives.
