     There’s something magical about The Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation. 💚 It’s not only their involvement with the latest research and cutting-edge medical treatment for pediatric brain tumors, nor is it just their community involvement- donating significant funds to Akron Children’s Hospital to help advance brain tumor research. It’s also the inspiring people that make up the foundation and the message of JOY they continue to deliver to our communities.

Last year I was recruited by one of those inspiring (and maybe crazy) members to run the Akron half marathon and fundraise for The Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation.This year I continue the recruitment strategy (looking at you Mallory Capretta).            

     I am lacing up my running shoes along with my HUSBAND (!!!!) Brian Slavens, and a crazy team of Cheeto loving running humans, not just for the challenge but for a cause that that means so much to all of us. Melina’s story and the foundation created in her name are powerful reminders of the strength of one child’s legacy and the impact we can make together. Every step our team takes in this race is for the the children like Melina and their families facing the unimaginable.
