I’m back again participating in the pride & remembrance run. 

This year, however my challenge is a very different one. My year has been one of many barriers. It began with a severe triple displaced shoulder fracture 5 days prior to 

last year’s Pride Run. 

After completing the 5K virtually off-course (thanks to Jilly and my nephew Jeremy) I was sitting still in traction for just under eight straight weeks as my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome made surgery too complex. 

My physical recovery on the joint and the rest of my body has continued to the time of this writing- which is walking and rebuilding my muscles properly including a slow recovery from an additional concussion in mid January adding POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardic Syndrome) flares slowing down progress. This said - movement is medicine! 

There is a finish line. I believe this still.

All my nicknames playing croquet in Nova Scotia “Bam Bam”, or “Pippi the Goon” in Ontario,  all names relating to charging forward and through used to serve me well. I know however, the only way through the finish line this year is with patience and throwing away a time goal. In many ways this is far harder for me.

I am late in asking as I have had continuous flares due to heat and my concussion recovery.

These are hard times in the 2SLGBTQ+ community with emboldened attacks on us happening here in Canada with political misinformation at alarming rates - inspired by the hurtful actions south of the border. Like my recovery we persist with patience, caring for our youth and seniors most at risk. Please take a moment to see the beneficiaries this year. They surely reflect this.

The pride & remembrance run is dedicated to lifting up and raising funds for important 2SLGBTQ+ programs in the GTA. 

You can help me support them as I raise funds this year for 4 incredible non-profit organizations that are doing amazing work in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. 

I always say: When the going gets rough, go out  and help others.

The beneficiaries for this year’s run are: Sherbourne Health Centre, Sunshine Centres for Seniors, the Women's College Hospital Foundation, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation.

It’s fast and easy to donate, and tax receipts will be issued for every donation over $20. Every donation matters, as we try to reach our goal of raising $325,000 this year!
