My Story…
Hey friends! I’m excited to participate in the virtual Pride & Remembrance Run from Pembroke for the first time this year!
As I struggled to find myself as a young adult, the Toronto Gay Village and Pride events made me feel welcome. I learned here by watching others live real examples, that being free to love who you want to love and being able to embrace who you truly are surrounded by allies and community members, is one of the necessary steps for happiness in life.
These rights have always been tenuous, but now they’re under threat around the world more than ever in recent history, making it important to show our pride and to remember all those who fought for us to be here today & for those who continue the fight!
I'm especially excited that this year's donations go (among 3 other beneficiaries) to Sherbourne Health's Resilient Roots project. 2SLGBTQ+ youth are 14x more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience suicide risk and substance use challenges. This project works to reduce risk these risk factors in the even more marginalized 2SLGBTQ+ multiracial community.
Description
Hi friends!
I’m participating in the pride & remembrance run!
Support and sponsorships for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and events are taking a hit from increasing anti-2SLGBTQ+ sentiment. The pride & remembrance run is dedicated to lifting up and raising funds for important 2SLGBTQ+ programs in the GTA.
You can help me support them as I raise funds this year for 4 incredible non-profit organizations that are doing amazing work in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The beneficiaries for this year’s run are: Sherbourne Health Centre, Sunshine Centres for Seniors, the Women's College Hospital Foundation, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation.
You can find out more about these incredible organizations here.
It’s fast and easy to donate, and tax receipts will be issued for every donation over $20. Every donation matters, as we try to reach our goal of raising $325,000 this year! The projects and initiatives that these organizations are developing will make a difference to so many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and I would be so grateful for your donation.
Thanks again for your support and remember your why!
