Help us raise money

Our Sophie bear is such a fearless little champ and we could not be more proud of her. She’s handled some tough moments in her young life, but has exceeded expectations for the past year and is doing amazing. 

Sophie was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve and moderate stenosis at 6 days old in January 2024. She has since had two cardiac catheterization procedures, where a balloon is placed into her valve to try to expand it and improve the stenosis and resulting pressure on her heart. Through multiple hospitalizations before 9 months old, in Saskatoon and Edmonton, she continued to grow and learn.

We are told she will need open heart surgery in the future, but her echos have showed the improvement from her last catheterization holding up well. In the meantime, additional issues caused by the stress on her heart are being well managed by medication and she is happily chasing our cat and dog around with her sister.
