Thank You for Volunteering for the 2025 Life;Story 5K for Suicide Prevention!
Volunteer participation is key to the success of Life;Story – thank you for your interest in being a volunteer!
There are many volunteer opportunities available - click on the Volunteer Now button below and choose an activity best for you. Each volunteer activity has specific duties and time expectations defined here. Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.
When you arrive at Ray Fosse Park:
- Come to the Volunteer Check-In area (watch for signs) to receive specific instructions.
- Please join us for the Life;Story programs which begins at approximately 7 a.m. Clean-up will begin immediately following the event closing ceremony.

# ACTIVITY
5 Anywhere needed (Friday 9:00 am) – Volunteers will be assigned to an activity
3 Packet pick-up (Friday 10:30am-1:00pm)
- Report to Ray Fosse Park, Administration Building, 1305 N. Otis, Marion
- Check in registered participants and give them their race packet
- Stuff race packets
3 Packet pick-up (Friday 4:00-6:00pm)
- Report to Ray Fosse Park, Administration Building, 1305 N. Otis, Marion

20 Anywhere needed (Saturday 5:00-10:30 a.m.) – Volunteers will be assigned to an activity
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
10 Set Up (Saturday 5:00-7 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Direct Community Partners and Sponsors to their reserved spaces
- Assist Race Course volunteers, if needed
2 Welcome Center (Saturday 6:00-7:30 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Answer questions, give directions
4 Onsite Registration (Saturday 6:00–7:30 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Assist last-minute participants with registration
3 Volunteer Check-In (Saturday 6:00-7:30 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Check in volunteers, give them assignments and direct them where they are need
6 Race Course (Saturday 6–10 a.m.; Water Stops; 5K turnaround, finish line)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Keep water stocked on tables
- Manage trash
6 Race Course (Saturday 6-10 a.m.; Medals, Awards, Trophies)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Unpack event commemorative medals
- Organize finish line medals and race awards/trophies
- Monitor award tables during race
- Hand medals to participants after finish line
- Assist with award/trophy distribution during Program and Awards
- Re-pack any remaining medals, awards, trophies
10 Clean Up (Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Pick up signage in Outreach Community Fair area
- Pick up trash
- Load remaining supplies
- Take down signage
2 Courier (Saturday 5:30-9 a.m.)
- Report to Volunteer Check-In
- Miscellaneous errands onsite
50 Course Cheerleaders (Saturday 7-10 a.m.)
- Encourage walkers/runners at water stops and along course
- Students report to Volunteer Check-In for volunteer hours and school trophy counts
20 Satellite Event (Madison County) (Saturday 7-10 a.m.)
- Set-up/Clean-up
- Encourage walkers/runners along course
- Hand out water at finish line
- Other areas as assigned
