If you know me, you know that I’ve had some difficult times this year. But losing Dan, my love and partner, so suddenly, brought me a sadness and a void like I’ve never known. I spent the past couple months sitting in many emotions - emptiness, adrenaline, fogginess, anger, despair, loneliness, and hopelessness. But, I remember how proud Dan was that I ran Falmouth Road Race no matter the physical or mental shape I was in and that I did it for an incredible non-profit group for which I believe does so much good.  

And then, I think about all the women helped by this incredible team of people at Recovery Without Walls. The RWW team gives, everyday, their support and strength to women of Cape Cod and Portland, Maine. This small but mighty organization dedicates its existence to rebuilding the lives of incredible women who have experienced and suffered the throws of addiction and trauma. RWW offers counseling, acupuncture, yoga, mentorship, financial literacy, and pathways to education, employment, and safe and stable housing. Each day, the women served by RWW make a decision to do hard things to make their lives better. 

Running the Falmouth Road Race will be a hard thing for me this year, but I am continuously inspired by the strength of the women of RWW, and the love that its team unconditionally provides, making the road ahead less treacherous and tough and showing them a path to something greater in this life.
