My Story…
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am honored and humbled to be running the Falmouth Road Race for Project Sweet Peas (PSP) again this year.
My experience with PSP started back in 2017, after my son, William, was born at 35 weeks and required a month-long NICU stay at BIDMC. (My BIDMC journey had begun a month earlier, when my contractions started at 32 weeks, which led us to become frequent- flyers at BI for the month of December). This meant many rides into the city during inclement weather (at all hours of the night), and finding rides into the city when Will was living in the NICU. I can’t believe he is 7 now, and doing well, you would never know!
PSP was there to support us during a very uncertain time. When we were worried what the next day, week, and month would look like, it was comforting to know we had plenty of resources, the NICU staff and PSP to support us. I remember PSP providing constant re-fills of snacks and goodies in our Family Resource Room, and they would provide adorable outfits for the holidays (we were there for NYE 2018!) and the cutest, most cozy, snuggly hats for these sweet, tiny babies. They provided books for our NICU library and baskets of food/ snacks and other items, when our highest priority was (day in and day out) sitting at the bedside, exhausted but attentive, anxious but hopeful (*fingers crossed no “spells” that night*), and just wanting to give our babies the best versions of ourselves with constant love and affection.
An additional challenge for me was I was determined to pump/ breastfeed, and so was endlessly pumping and washing parts, and because of Will’s GI issues, it was always a struggle to find food to match my no-dairy, no-soy diet, which PSP and BI helped provide resources for. PSP also provides care packages and countless other resources to families affected by not only premature birth and NICU stays, but also infant loss.
If you have made it this far, thank you! If you are able, please join me in supporting Project Sweet Peas🫛; as you can see, this cause is near and dear to my heart, and any donation, no matter how small, helps to make a difference for these very tiny babies and their families who are desperately trying to help them, comfort them, and bring them home!
Thank you so much for your time, for reading and for any support you can offer! Let’s give back to such a wonderful and selfless organization, that has helped my family and so many others during a time when it is needed the most. 💜
