Help me support families staying at The Boston House!
On August 17th, I'm excited and honored to be running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race with The Boston House for the second year. The Boston House is a truly fantastic organization that has provided no-cost housing for children with cancer who are receiving treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children's Hospital since 1979.
As you may know, on Thursday evenings I head over to the Boston House in Longwood for a volunteer shift after work. I help to check-in families, usually after a long day of travel with little ones, or sometimes after a day at the hospital receiving treatment.
Families travel from all over the country to receive the very best care at Boston’s incredible children’s hospitals. The average length of stay at The House in 2024 was 9 days at $0 cost for families (A savings of around $2,250 based on price of Boston hotels !!!)
But the impact of The House goes beyond eliminating the financial stress of a place to stay - here, children and their families find respite from the hospital and medical procedures, a sense of normalcy, and comfort and support among staff, volunteers, and other families facing the life-changing realities of childhood cancer.
Finding a way to get involved with Boston Children’s Hospital has been very meaningful to me personally, given all of the awesome care my brother received there while we lived in Massachusetts. My family can speak first-hand that the hospital and partnering organizations are world class in the care they provide, but also everything else they do to support families through treatment.
The Falmouth Road Race is one of The Boston House’s biggest fundraising events of the year, and I would be so grateful if you’d consider contributing toward my personal fundraising for the race. Your encouragement will help me get through the 7 miles in the mid-August heat !
