My Story…

I can remember visiting the hospital room after my sister's birth like it was yesterday. Annie's arrival was eagerly anticipated as she was the youngest of our big family. Prior to our arrival at the hospital, we knew 2 things about my sister Annie. Firstly, her name. Secondly, that she had Down Syndrome. Unsurprisingly, there was so much we didn’t know about our sister- ie the foods she would one day love, the movies she would watch on repeat, the friends she would make (there are too many to count), but perhaps most importantly, the profound impact Annie has had on ourselves, our community, and the full extent to which Annie has been the greatest gift my family could ever ask for.

My sister Annie has taught me more about the meaning of life than any book, movie, podcast, or lecture ever could. Her joy is contagious. She has the kindest heart. She regularly waves to strangers, welcomes new friends with hugs, and holds my nieces and nephews hands as we visit new places. She finds joy in life’s little things- painting a picture at my parents’ kitchen table, highschool sporting events and plays, last night’s leftovers, and spontaneous dance parties to her favorite songs.

My love for Annie inspired me to join BC Best Buddies when I arrived at Boston College. Through BC Best Buddies, I was able to feel connected to my sister while being hundreds of miles away. The individuals I met through Best Buddies have remained some of my dearest friends, even after graduation. One of my dear friends, Ned Reichenbach (a longtime MDSC ambassador), actually encouraged me to run the Falmouth Road Race for MDSC. And here we are. I am so grateful to be running for such a tremendous organization whose great work I have seen firsthand.

I am so excited to be running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race with Team MDSC. The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress has a special place in my heart, as organizations like MDSC have paved the way for my sister Annie’s success and the advancement of accessibility for individuals with Down Syndrome in the Bay State.

Description

In August I will be running in the 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race to raise funds and promote the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.

My goal is to raise as much as I can to support the MDSC's mission and I’m asking for your help!  Will you join with me by making a tax-deductible donation?  Your support will bring me one step closer to achieving my fundraising goal and will help the MDSC to continue to reach its ultimate goal—to ensure that all individuals with Down syndrome are valued, included, and given the opportunity to pursue fulfilling lives.

If you would like to make an online donation, please click above on my fundraising page. If you would prefer to donate by check, you can mail a check, payable to MDSC to:
