Hi! This year, I'm running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race in support of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance.
The Mission of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance is to advocate for the small-boat fishing fleet of Cape Cod. The Alliance is fishermen, community members, public officials and scientists woking together to build creative strategies, advocate for improved marine policies, protect the ocean ecosystem, and ensure the viability and future of Cape Cod's fisheries.
As a native of Cape Cod, with friends and family in the fishing industry, I've personally witnessed the impact that the economy and technology, the regulatory environment, and the evolving ocean ecosystem has had on the sustainability of our fishing fleets; I'm honored to participate in this charity organization to raise awareness and support for our Cape Cod fishing fleet.
Description
The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance is proud to be participating for the eighth consecutive year in the iconic Falmouth Road Race as part of the Numbers for Nonprofits Program. Our fantastic team is running to raise funds to help us continue our work advocating for our historic small boat fishing industry and sustainable fishing on Cape Cod.
Founded in 1991 by the local fishing fleet, Fishermen's Alliance engages the local fishing community in building lasting solutions to protect the ocean ecosystem and the future of Cape Cod's small-boat fishing fleet.
Fishermen's Alliance stands for:
- A Healthy Ocean Environment: We advocate for healthy oceans to ensure sustainable and successful fishing businesses.
- Fishermen Driving Science: Fishermen partner with scientists to conduct research to inform sensible and forward-looking fishing regulations.
