Help Meghan raise money

My finish line is a world without Type 1 Diabetes. I won't stop running until there's a cure. I'm running the Falmouth Road Race on August 17th for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) in honor of my brave, strong, resilient T1D Warrior and daughter, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 5. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing ability of the pancreas. Elizabeth relies on an insulin pump and Dexcom continuous glucose monitor to live. She wears these devices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Her blood sugar must be carefully monitored at all times. This is a disease that Elizabeth will live with for the rest of her life and there is currently no cure.... YET. 

Despite the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes, Elizabeth shows us how strong she is each and every day. Some nights she is woken up multiple times to treat low blood sugars while she is sleeping. She still bounces out of bed in the morning ready to take on the day. She heads into Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston every three months for routine appointments and blood work. Elizabeth is a warrior who won't stop fighting. She plays a variety of sports including: lacrosse, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and sailing. Exercise causes her blood sugar to quickly drop low. As determined parents, we monitor her even more carefully during sports and have multiple juice boxes in hand at all times.

I am raising money for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) because they have been there for us since day one of diagnosis. Breakthrough T1D invests in the most promising research that turns ideas into life changing therapies- including cures. In addition to research, their goal is to improve the lives of those living with Type 1. As a family, this organization has provided unconditional support for us to help us on some of the hardest days of our lives. It's not "if" there's a cure... it's "when."
