My Story…
Hi! I’m Abby and I’ve been working with Girls on the Run since college. At the time, I could not even imagine running a mile, so I was always on the cheer squad and working with the girls before the 5k they ran at the end of their season. When I moved to Boston, I discovered running, and it did so much more for me than just being a workout! I had no idea the profound effect running would have on my mental health and ability to handle the life transition I was going through. I even ended up running two half marathons!
Now, I have been coaching with Girls on the Run for two years. Seeing the girls in the program grow their confidence and skills throughout the program has been so special to be a part of! Donations are key to keeping Girl on the Run accessible for everyone. I appreciate any support in raising money for an amazing organization that is making impactful changes in girls’ lives!
Description
Girls on the Run is more than a running program. Through GOTR's program, trained coaches implement the research-based curriculum that builds lifelong healthy habits. Girls learn the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of physical activity, as well as tools for navigating the challenges of adolescence. Each season concludes with a 5K event where the girls run at their own pace, giving them a sense of achievement and a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
