My Story…
Hello everyone - thank you for visiting my page. I am 'running' the 2025 Falmouth Road Race for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. This charity organization holds a special place in my heart because in 2008, I had a craniotomy to clip an unruptured 4mm brain aneurysm (BA). I was very active during this time in my life and didn't know what to do. I could live with the unruptured BA or have the surgery. The multiple doctors that I talked to didn't know if or when it would rupture. I just knew that if it did, my life would be changed forever. I wore a medical bracelet on my runs to alert people of my BA in case it ruptured during my run and found myself in constant worry, so I took the leap to have the surgery. I ended up going with the founder of the BA Foundation, Dr. Christopher Ogilvy, as my surgeon - he had an incredible bedside manner and walked me through everything. I trusted him explicitly.
Even though my BA was unruptured, the surgery itself was traumatic and took me a long time to recover. But recover I did! I have had very little effects long term from the surgery and resumed my physical activity as soon as I could. That was a while ago now and I haven't run much in years - but this opportunity to obtain a number and raise monies for this wonderful organization has led me to lace up my sneakers again! It may not be pretty or fast during the race, but I'll get across that finish line one way or another!
The BA Foundation has grown tremendously and has raised critical research dollars necessary for aneurysm research, advocacy and support for patients and survivors. 1 in 50 people have an aneurysm. If you would like to learn more about the BA Foundation and hear personal stories, please visit Personal Stories - Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
I know there are many requests for donations, but I would be very grateful if you can support me and the BA Foundation with any amount you can. Thank you again for your consideration!
