My Story…
Community
William's Be Yourself Challenge and The Green House is on a mission to support grieving families. Help them in their goal to build a retreat on the coast for families to heal, find solace, and regain strength in a peaceful environment.
This organization is run in honor of William Shaw who I had the privilege of knowing-- I will forever remember the rides down the Shaw driveway on whatever wheeled-object we could find and volunteering in his 3rd grade classroom. Every time we would leave the class, we would talk about how William was the sweetest, happiest, most respectful child. It is amazing to see what his family has done in his honor for others.
Personal
In recent years, I have experienced grief and major life changes. Also, I have felt frustrated and stuck in a mental health battle. Running has always been an escape from my thoughts, and has been a way for me to find peace and to prove to myself that I am a fighter. Emotional pain often manifests physically-- the ocean, quiet, and escaping daily life has proved to ease this discomfort. Running the Falmouth Road Race and combining these two medicines to help manage the pain of grieving parents and siblings is an honor.
