This August, I will be running in the Falmouth Road Race with the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE). This is the first time the MARE team will be joining the race and I am honored to be part of the team. Each team member is making strides to make life-changing connections for children and teens in foster care.
Knowing that every child needs a safe, loving, permanent family to thrive, I am running to raise $1,150 in support of MARE's work on behalf of the 1,150 Massachusetts youth who are currently in foster care with a goal of adoption.
As many know, my connection to MARE is personal and close to my heart as I had the honor of adopting my son from foster care and he has changed my world in ways that are truly indescribable. I am constantly in awe of his strength, resilience, and love.
Why MARE's Work Matters
Right now, there are over 8,000 children in foster care across Massachusetts. Of those, 3,108 have a goal of adoption. 1,150 have no identified family or permanent home.
Compared to youth who age out of foster care without a family, those who are adopted into permanent homes are:
-50% more likely to attend college
-50% less likely to be arrested
-47% less likely to experience homelessness
-23% more likely to graduate from high school

Thank you for supporting my run to make life-changing connections for youth in foster care.
On August 17th, I'm running the 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race to support the work of the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange, Inc. MARE's mission is to build connections for youth in foster care with permanent and adoptive families.
Committed to providing children and teens in foster care with the support and love they need to thrive, MARE strives to connect each youth they serve with the permanent family they deserve. MARE offers guidance and support to families so they can provide their children with long-term stability, healing, and a sense of belonging.
To support MARE's mission, my goal is to raise a minimum of $1,150 - one dollar for every youth in Massachusetts foster care who has a goal of adoption, but no identified resource or family member to provide a permanent home.
