OUR FINISH LINE SAYS ALS DONE!
I'm running the Falmouth Road Race with ALS One in honor of our lovely Grannie also known as Annie Cooks.
Ann had this way of making everyone feel at home, whether you were family or a stranger who just walked in the door. And usually, you walked into a house filled with the smell of something warm cooking in the kitchen.
She was the sweetest soul I’ve ever known. Gentle, kind, and always smiling, even when things started getting hard. When ALS came into her life in the summer of 2021, it tried to take away everything, her voice, her strength, and her independence. But it could never touch her spirit.
Even though ALS took our sweet grannie from us, it could never take the way she made people feel. The warmth and kindness, it still lives on in all of us who loved her. When I run, I’m not just remembering what we lost, I’m celebrating everything she gave. Her love, her laughter and her endless patience.
I’m running this race because she couldn’t. I run to honor her fight, to raise awareness, and to help others who are facing this same cruel disease. Every mile is for her. So I run with hope. Hope for a future without ALS, and hope that somehow, through this small act, her spirit keeps moving forward, touching lives just like she always did.
This one’s for you, Grannie.

Your support means the world to me and to all of us and will help to advance critical research at MGH, UMass Medical School, and ALS TDI, while providing essential equipment such as lifts, ramps, wheelchairs and assistive technology devices to individuals currently living with ALS via our care team at Compassionate Care ALS - all incredible partners that make up ALS ONE.
