Welcome to my 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race Page!

I, Mary Jo Murphy, will be lacing up my sneakers in honor of a man who never gave up in any of his battles. To support the National Brain Tumor Society, I will be running the Falmouth Road Race on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on August 17, 2025. This cause is dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by brain tumors through vital research. My goal is to raise $3000, which will help fund innovative treatments and support services for patients and caregivers alike. Your donation-- no matter the size-- is a step toward a cure. Please join me in continuing Jeff's legacy.

My incredible Uncle Jeff was diagnosed this past July 2024 with brain cancer, a glioblastoma, which is particularly aggressive and fast-moving. He began his fight against this terrible disease, immediately undergoing intensive surgery, treatment, and trials. The support my Uncle Jeff received from his daughter, Murphy, and her husband, Dan, was awe-inspiring. They pursued every possible effective treatment, traveled to visit family and friends when he felt well enough to do so (which is no easy feat), and helped him to be his strongest self through it all.

My Uncle Jeff lost his hard-fought battle against brain cancer in March 2025, surrounded by love, family, and friends up until the very end. I was lucky enough to visit him in the weeks before, and I’ll always remember chatting about anything and everything. From Nona’s typical outfits (if you know, you know), to his craziest courtroom interactions, to the names of our childhood cats, who he remembered visiting up in Massachusetts.

He will forever be my sweet, incredibly intelligent, Southern gentleman of an uncle who supported me and all my cousins endlessly. We will always have a missing piece in our family after losing my Uncle Jeff, but I know he traveled, loved, and laughed that last year and is still cheering us all on now.

Unfortunately, brain cancer, especially glioblastomas, still lacks effective treatment options and research funding. That is why I am running the Falmouth Road Race in honor of my Uncle Jeff and his fight, and asking for your support by donating anything you can to the National Brain Tumor Society to directly aid in funding research, raising awareness, supporting patients and caregivers, and discovering a cure.

I'll never forget Uncle Jeff's encouragement of my athletic career, even flying to Massachusetts

for the weekend to see one of my senior college soccer games.
