My Story…
This year I am running the Falmouth Road Race for the first time on behalf of the Laurie Melchionda Foundation (LMF). LMF was created upon the passing of Laurie Melchionda, the matriarch of their family. Laurie was a Braintree based nurse who worked through numerous positions in career. From bedside nurse to Board of Health Member to community advocate, Laurie worked her entire career to support and educate her community. Her daughter Juliana and I worked together at Mass General Hospital starting in 2019. We both experienced the loss of our mothers with a year and 7 days of each other and have leaned on each other in navigating the world without them over the past 4 years. LMF supports students through a scholarship at The University of Massachusetts Boston Nursing program as well as community events to spread the story of Laurie's life.
