CPN supports families caring for children with life-limiting illnesses and also supports medical providers, giving them important insights into the lived experience of the children and families they care for. 

This is a wonderful cause, near and dear to my heart. Working in the Medical Intensive care unit- I see very often how supportive this organization is.

To make this race even more meaningful, I will be running in honor of Stella Stanczyk and her family. I had the privilege of meeting Stella's amazing mother Kelsey recently. She shared the following about her beloved daughter:

"Stella Stanczyk lived almost two years with many medical complexities and needs due to two rare chromosomal abnormalities. She was loved and cared for by her parents, Kelsey and Eric and her older sister Zoey as well as a very large 'hospital family" at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, WA. She was born at, died at, and spent about one third of her life at Mary Bridge. Palliative care and palliative minded healthcare professionals helped to provide Kelsey, Eric, and Zoey with the support and opportunity to give Stella the best possible life. Like Courtney and her team at Boston Children's, the many incredible providers helped Stella and her family feel safe, loved, and cared for during that time and to this day. Stella may have had a lot of illness in her life but she had even more love and lots of laughter. The reach her memory has had leaves Kelsey, Eric and Zoey in awe."

Kelsey has joined Courageous Parents Network this year as a Parent Champion, sharing that: "CPN's resources are more than videos and education but a community and a testament that we as parents are strong, resilient, and the best caregivers for our kids. Because of CPN, no family needs to navigate this often scary and isolating journey of complex illness alone."
