Help Katie raise money

Early Onset Alzheimer’s runs very heavily in my family.  My first experience with this disease began when I was a toddler. My grandmother was the first person I knew with Alzheimer’s, though I didn’t know what that meant. When I was about 9, my Aunt Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and I watched her spend the next 12 years battling this disease until she passed. I grew up watching my favorite family members slowly slip away from this disease until they passed. Most recently, my family said ‘goodbye’ to my Uncle Joe last November and said our ‘goodbyes’ to my Auntie Deb in January, both who fought Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. I currently have a cousin who has been living with Early Onset Alzheimer’s, who recently turned 50. I’ve grown up watching my Mom care for her Mom, her five older siblings, several of her own aunts and cousins and now her niece. I’ve watched my Mom be the stand-in parent when my cousins lost theirs too early in life and needed support. 

I want to live in a world where this disease doesn’t exist. I want to live in a world where my family is not plagued by a disease that takes away the best versions of my family members. I am honored to be running The Falmouth Road Race for the second time with Team End ALZ to honor and memorialize my family members that have fought this terrible disease. 

I run to honor my Gram, Auntie Betty, Auntie Jan Jan, Uncle Billy, Uncle Joe, Auntie Deb, and my cousin.💜
