I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!
Four years ago, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. At the time, I understood it as a memory disease, but I’ve come to realize how deeply it affects every part of a person’s life and the lives of those who love them. Watching my mom change has been incredibly difficult. She was always the center of our family: talkative, warm, funny, and deeply involved in all of our lives. Slowly, we’ve seen her struggle with things that once came easily. These days, she often can’t recognize familiar faces or follow a conversation.
And yet, there are still moments of light. She still smiles and laughs. She still hums songs she’s always loved. Even now, she shows strength in quiet, meaningful ways. Those moments remind me who she is and why I want to do something to make a difference.
This year, I’m running the Falmouth Road Race in her honor and to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Association. I’m running to help fund research, support families, and move us closer to a future without this disease. The Alzheimer’s Association has been a source of hope and resources for so many, and I’m proud to be part of that effort.
Every contribution helps. Every mile I run is for my mom and for all the families who are living with Alzheimer’s right now. Thank you for reading my story, and thank you for supporting this cause that means so much to me.
